red dye disaster!

a couple of days ago, i dyed my hair mahogany....it turned out alot reder then i thought it would, so i dyed it again 2days later with the same colour, thinking it would go darker, only it has turned out an even brighter red shade....am i able 2 cover it with a brown colour? im affraid i will go ginger!!
